Thunivu, the highly anticipated film starring Ajith Kumar, will be hitting screens for Pongal 2023, a source close to the production unit confirmed to Cinema Express. Directed by H Vinoth, the film is produced by Boney Kapoor in association with Zee Studios.

If the release ensues as per the current plan, Thunivu will clash with Vijay's bilingual film Varisu/Varasadu, directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Thunivu's final schedule was wrapped up recently in Bangkok. The source added that a few more days of patchwork are left, and the makers will begin the post-production soon.

It may be noted that Thunivu marks the third collaboration of Ajith with the director and producer after Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai.  The upcoming film is expected to be a heist thriller. While Manju plays the female lead, Veera, Samuthirakani, John Kokken, and Telugu actor Ajay are also part of the cast. The film's cinematography is by Nirav Shah, the music by Ghibran and edit by Velukutty.
