Naai Sekar Returns, the upcoming Tamil film starring veteran comedian Vadivelu in the lead role will release in theatres on December 9, the makers announced on social media on Friday.

The upcoming film marks the return of the comedian to the big screens after a gap of five years. Vadivelu was last seen in Mersal which released in 2017.

Naai Sekar Returns is directed by filmmaker Suraaj and backed by Lyca Productions. The film has Santhosh Narayanan as the music composer. Naai Sekar Returns also stars Redin Kingsley, Shivangi, and Lollu Sabha Maaran among others. The Suraaj directorial, which has the filmmaker collaborating with Vadivelu for the fourth time in Naai Sekar Returns, features the actor as a detective. It is to be noted that Naai Sekar is a famous comical character that Vadivelu played in the 2006 Tamil film Thalai Nagaram, which was directed by Suraaj. However the new film does not appear to have any connections with the older one.

Meanwhile, after Naai Sekar Returns, Vadivelu will be seen in Maamannan under the direction of Mari Selvaraj. The film also stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh and Fahadh Faasil.
