After directing hard-hitting films like Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan, Mari Selvaraj has announced his fourth directorial (after his ongoing Maamannan), titled Vaazhai. The director released the first look poster of the project on social media on Monday.

Vaazhai, which translates to plantain in Tamil, will be produced by Mari Selvaraj along with Divya Mari Selvaraj. It is presented by Disney+ Hotstar and Navvi Studios and expected to be a streamer original.

The first look poster of Vaazhai features four young boys holding scythes, along with their dog, against the backdrop of a plantain field. The poster hints the project to be set against a rural backdrop, just like Mari’s previous two films.

Vaazhai’s technical team includes Theni Eswar as the cinematographer, while Suriya Pradhaman will handle the editing. Santhosh Narayanan, who has worked with Mari in Karnan and Pariyerum Perumal, will compose music for Vaazhai as well.

Meanwhile, Mari Selvaraj is currently working on his third directorial Maamannan. The film, which is nearing completion, features a host of stars, including Keerthy Suresh, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu. Maamannan, produced by Udhayanidhi production house, Red Giant Movies, has music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Theni Eswar.
