Tamil cinema-related events becoming the hotspot for controversies isn't a new thing. We have, time and again, seen celebrities using these opportunities to settle personal scores, or pass an unnecessary comment that will be the talk on social media for a few days. However, many a time, this kind of unprovoked behaviour is brushed away under the carpet.

In a recent audio launch for Sunny Leone's next Tamil film, Oh My Ghost, actor and comedian Sathish's comments on the wardrobe choices of his co-actor Dharsha Gupta have landed him in hot water.

Unnecessarily comparing the choice of attires of Sunny Leone and Dharsha, Sathish passed an unsavoury opinion on the latter, which didn't go down well with netizens.  Although, we can see Dharsha taking the jibe sportively, and there are voices that construe this incident as 'friendly banter' many feel the backlash is warranted because there is no place for such regressive thoughts, especially on a public platform.

On Monday, singer-voiceactor Chinmayi became one of the first voices from within the cinema industry to deride the actor for his remarks at the event. In a social media post, Chinmayi said, "I mean - To actually *point* at a woman and ask for mass heckling of a crowd by a man on a woman who doesn’t dress according to culture. When will this behaviour from men stop? It's not funny."

Sathish hasn't responded to the growing furore against his statement.
