We earlier reported that a portion of Jailer, Rajinikanth's upcoming film, was shot in Cuddalore and fans around the locality had gone gaga after seeing the superstar. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film will mark Rajini's 169th outing. While fans can't wait to watch Rajini on the big screen, Nelson Dilipkumar recently shared an exciting update in an interview.

According to reports, the director revealed that 50% of the shooting has been wrapped up. He also noted that the film has some high-octane action sequences. Stunt Siva has been reportedly roped in to choreograph action sequences in the film.  The team is currently in Hyderabad to begin shooting the remaining portions. Meanwhile, Jailer is expected to release in 2023 summer.

The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, which earlier backed Annaatthe.  Set in the background of jail, Rajini plays the titular character in Jailer. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander and will mark the third collaboration between him and Rajini after Petta and Darbar. Actors Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan and Vasanth Ravi are also part of the film.
