Actor Manikandan, who was appreciated for his performance in Jai Bhim, is set to collaborate with a debutant director for a romantic comedy. The film, which is yet-to-be titled, was announced on Wednesday.

Helmed by Vinayak Chandrasekaran, who previously assisted Sam Anton, the film is produced by Nazerath Pasilian,Yuvaraj Ganesan, and Maheshraj Pasilian under the banners Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment. Besides Manikandan, the film also features Meetha Ragunath, Ramesh Thilak, director Balaji Shakthivel, Bagavathi Perumal, among others.

Speaking to Cinema Express about the upcoming film, Vinayak says, “The film is set in a modern day Chennai. The plot involves around a humourous presentation of snoring. However, it not only revolves around that aspect, but will talk more about the life. The flavor of the film will be more on human emotions. We haven’t resorted to body-shamming sort of comedy when dealing with snoring. How people view snoring from a social perspective, what is the life of a snorer like, their partner’s. It talks the subtext of human emotions.”

Vinayak, who also wrote the script in 2020, said that he first penned it as a short story during his college days. In the film, Manikandan plays an IT employee, who the director describes as “boy-next-door, relatable character”.

The shooting for the film has been wrapped in and around Chennai. Currently in post-production stages, the makers are yet to lock the release date. The technical crew consists of Sean Roldan composing five songs for the film, cinematography by Jayanth Sethumadhavan and editor Bharath Vikraman.

Director SP Shakthivel has worked as the creative producer for the film.
