It was previously speculated that actor-politician T Rajendar was admitted to hospital on Monday due to undisclosed reasons. Now, his son and actor Silambarasan TR took to Twitter to give an update on his father's health.

As per Silambarasan's press release, his father was admitted to a private hospital after suffering from chest pain. "After the medical examination, we were informed that he suffered an internal bleeding in his stomach. The doctors advised us to get a major surgery performed, and keeping his well-being in mind, we are taking him abroad for the medical procedure," read the statement.

"He is now conscious and well. Once he recovers after the surgery, he will meet you all. Thank you all for your prayers," he added.

On the work front, T Rajendar was last seen in a guest appearance in the 2017 film, Vizhithiru. In a recent press meet, he spoke against the ex-Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and also released a song titled 'Nanga Vazhanuma, Saganuma Sollunga' against his regime.
