Yogi Babu and Oviyaa's next gets a new title

The first look of Yogi Babu and Oviyaa's upcoming comedy entertainer, titled Boomer Uncle is out. Directed by Swadees MS, an erstwhile assistant of Magizh Thirumeni, the poster of the film was unveiled by Sibi Sathyaraj. In the posters, we see Oviyaa sporting the Wonder Woman costume and Yogi Babu wielding a gun.

The film was earlier titled Contractor Nesamani, borrowed from Vadivelu's popular character in Friends (2001). The poster released last year had multiple pop culture references like Spiderman's mask, a Salvador Dali mask (Money Heist), and the tagline of Vijay's Thalaivaa (2013) — Time To Lead. Now the makers have opted for a title change.

Speaking about the change in title, director Swadees explains, "Vadivelu sir's comeback to films was unexpected. When he returned, Yogi Babu sir requested me to change the title as a mark of respect for the actor. To respect a senior artist, we took the decision to change the title to Boomer Uncle."

Swadees clarified that the plot wouldn't change just because of the new title. "We have made a few changes. Initially, we had a few elements that would be relatable to the character. Now those have been changed. But it is the exact same content."

The filmmaker shares that the storyline revolves around Yogi Babu who gets caught in a heist-like situation. "He owns a palace, which he hasn't visited for many years. When he comes there, many incidents happen around him. Oviyaa plays the role of a guardian angel who supports and guides him."

"The film has sci-fi elements and tracks that 90s kids would enjoy," he adds.

Apart from Yogi Babu and Oviyaa, the film has a host of comedians including MS Bhaskar, Robo Shankar, Vijay TV Bala and Thangadurai. Produced by Anka Media, Boomer Uncle has music by Dharma Prakash and cinematography by Subash Dhandapani. "The shooting for the film is completed, but there are a lot of CG works pending. We are looking at releasing the film within the next two months," says Swadees.

Yogi Babu, who was last seen in Arun Vijay's Yaanai, will play the lead alongside Karunakaran in the upcoming comedy film Panni Kutty which is all set to release in theatres on July 8. He also has projects like Andhagan, The Legend, Ayalaan, Kasethan Kadavulada, Varisu, among others in his kitty. Meanwhile, Oviyaa was last seen in Vemal's Kalavani 2 (2019).
