Sam CS, who composed the background score for the Karthi-starrer Kaithi in 2019, is likely to reunite with filmmaker Lokesh Kanakaraj for its sequel, Kaithi 2, the musician confirmed to Cinema Express.

“Recently, I had a conversation with Lokesh. He said there are plans for Kaithi 2, and we will work together. I am looking forward to it and hope it happens,” Sam said.

He added that Kaithi’s background score has a lot of layers and depth. “For instance, the Biriyani track is not a random tune. The score reflects the jail days of Dhilli (Karthi's character).”

In Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram, when there is an initial reference to Kaithi’s Dhilli, Kaithi’s background sound recurs. The scene and score establish the connection between the two films, thus forming the Lokesh Cinematic Universe.

Kaithi was produced under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner and the film also stars Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, George Maryana and Dheena, in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, Sam has composed music for the recently released films Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Saani Kaayidham and the web series Suzhal.
