Indian 2 update: Kamal Haasan, Shankar finally march past multiple obstacles

We had earlier reported that the long-pending shooting of Shankar's Indian 2 was to resume soon. Incidentally, in one of the events for Kamal Haasan's latest blockbuster, Vikram, actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin confirmed that works for the film will be restarted by Lyca Productions soon.

Now, Udhayanidhi's banner, Red Giant Films announced that the film was indeed going on floors, and shared a new poster that credits both Udhayanidhi Stalin and Lyca Productions' Subaskaran as its producers.

Indian 2, which went on floors before the lockdown, met with a major obstacle in the form of an accident on the film's sets that resulted in the death of three crew members. While the pandemic created further difficulties, it got even more twisted with creative differences between the makers,

With all decks finally being cleared, the work on Indian 2 has resumed in full swing. The initially announced star cast of Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Gulshan Grover, Bobby Simha, and Kajal Aggarwal, is set to return for the second coming of the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster that united Kamal Haasan and Shankar for the first and only time.

Indian 2 will mark the second collaboration between composer Anirudh Ravichander and Kamal Haasan after Vikram.

With cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by Sreekar Prasad, Indian 2 has dialogues by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar

Meanwhile, Shankar is working on RC 15 with Ram Charan, and Kamal Haasan has announced a film with Mahesh Nayaranan.
