Vijay Deverakonda: I am too young to be called a superstar

Vijay Deverakonda and the team of Liger are spicing up the promotions across the country. The Puri Jagannadh directorial, which is set to hit the screens on August 25, has celebrated its fandom tour in Warangal on Sunday evening. The event was graced by debutante Ananya Panday, Puri, and Charmmee Kaur.

Vijay seems to be overwhelmed with the audience's response to the Liger trailer and says, "The promotions of Liger have introduced me to a lot of places I had never been before. I am still clueless as to why the people are flocking in huge numbers to bless me. I think this is only because of the love and affection showered by our (Telugu) audience," says Vijay amidst loud cheers from the audience.

Speaking about the film, he continues, "Coming to Liger, it showcases the journey of a mother and her son, who go all the way to Mumbai from Karimnagar only to fulfill their bagful of dreams. Likewise, Puri, Charmmee, and I went to Mumbai to make Liger a phenomenal film in our career. No matter what, we have decided to give our best and make Liger a big hit. I feel embarrassed if people call me a 'superstar'. I am too young to be called one and I have to achieve a lot to be called a superstar."

On his part, Puri thanked Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar for being a part of Liger and revealed how unhesitatingly he cast Vijay in the titular role. "My wife (Lavanya) was all praise for Sandeep Reddy Vanga and his debut film Arjun Reddy (2017). I began watching the film and stopped after 45 minutes. I was bowled over by his performance of Vijay and wondered how this boy can act so naturally! I have made up my mind to work with him and here I come with Liger. Vijay is an honest individual, who passionately loves cinema. He supported me in all endeavours and I haven't seen a man like him in my life," says Puri.

Ananya Panday charmed the audience by speaking in Telugu at the event. "I love Telugu audiences. I have been dreaming to foray into Tollywood and I am glad my dream has been fulfilled with Liger. I am confident that this film will be a blockbuster," says Ananya amidst applause from the audience.

Also spotted at the event were actors Ali, Vish and Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao among other dignitaries.
