The audio and trailer launch event for Viruman, the upcoming film starring Karthi and debutante Aditi Shankar, was held in Madurai on Wednesday.
The occasion was graced by the cast and crew of Viruman, stalwarts and noted celebrities of the Tamil film industry including Bharathiraja, Shankar and Suriya.
Speaking at the event, Suriya, who is producing Viruman, said that the film’s climax will answer the questions about the film. "The film will stand for what is right. Karthi is more dedicated and talented than me any day. He deserves to be celebrated more and the day is very near,” he added.
While Suriya marks his first public appearance after being conferred with the National Award for Soorarai Pottru, he said that the love has been overwhelming and everyone celebrated the victory as their own.
While attending his daughter's debut film event, filmmaker Shankar shared, “I have not seen director Muthaiya's film but have listened to songs from his films. I also know that he writes good characters for women in his films. So I am happy that my daughter Aditi is in safe hands.”
After releasing the trailer, Shankar said that it is better than what he expected. He also noted that he can foresee the film’s success. About his daughter, he said, "As a director, I have observed that Aditi is a very good entertainer."
Meanwhile, Aditi thanked the cast and crew of Viruman for this opportunity. She thanked actor Karthi for guiding her and not treating her as a newcomer.
Karthi, who was last seen in Sulthan, said, “Meeting Madurai fans is a long due. The love I got from here gave me a massive launch in Paruthiveeran. These kinds of fans give me the push to do rural films.”
He extended his gratitude to his brother Suriya for trusting him once again with Viruman. He added that the romance and family emotions in villages are deep-rooted and he loves going back to do rural films that tell stories based on these emotions.
Legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja said that if a film is loved by the people of Madurai, then it will be received well by the whole world. Congratulating the Viruman team, he said that they are his fourth-generation kids.
Director Muthaiya shared that Bharathiraja is the reason he entered the film industry. "I grew up watching Bharathiraja sir's films. Even though I hadn't worked with him, everything I learnt about films is through his works,” he said, adding that he always yearned to work with Yuvan and he is happy that it is now a dream come true with Viruman.
The film has Prakash Raj as Karthi's father and Soori, Raj Kiran, Singampuli, Robo Shankar, Karunas, Manoj Bharathi, RK Suresh, Saranya Ponvannan, and Vadivukkarasi, among several others in pivotal roles.
Viruman, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is produced by Suriya, Jyotika's banner 2D Entertainment. The film is set to hit the theatres on August 12.
