Netflix officially confirms premiere of Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan wedding documentary

Amid a flurry of rumours, Netflix finally confirms that they will be premiering a documentary based on Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding. The documentary will chronicle the love story of actor Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan which culminated in a grand wedding. After publicly dating each other for a few years, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan tied the knot in a luxurious resort in Mahabalipuram on June 9. The wedding was attended by top celebrities from the Indian film industry including Surya, Jyothika, Rajinikanth, and Shah Rukh Khan.

It was earlier reported that Netflix had acquired the rights to stream a documentary based on the wedding. It was even speculated that Netflix had paid for the wedding expenses. Rumours surfaced later that the streaming giant might have cancelled their plans to stream the documentary since they were allegedly unhappy with Vignesh Shivan sharing images from the wedding before the premiere date of the documentary. 

Tanya Bami, the series head of Netflix India put an end to all the rumours by saying "We are the home for unscripted content that is fresh and compelling, and has the power to connect with audiences in India and beyond." She continued "Nayanthara has been a true superstar with a career spanning nearly 20 years. With our amazing creative partners, director Gautam Vasudevan and Rowdy Pictures, we cannot wait for our members to finally get to see Nayanthara's journey that led to this fairytale wedding with Vignesh."

Netflix is yet to confirm the release date of the wedding documentary.
