The Warriorr: Stalwarts hail Lingusamy as the real warrior of the industry

The pre-release event of The Warriorr, the upcoming Tamil-Telugu film starring actors Ram Pothineni, Krithi  Shetty and Aadhi Pinisetty, among others, took place in Chennai on Wednesday.

The film, which is directed by Lingusamy, is produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi through the production Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner. It is due to release in theatres on July 14.

The event saw stalwarts of the Tamil film industry marking their presence during the occasion, as an evidence of the goodwill enjoyed by Lingusamy, in the industry. Directors Bharathiraja, Shankar, Mani Ratnam, Karthik Subbaraj, Vasantha Balan, Vikraman, and actors such as Arya, Vishal, SJ Suryah, among many other noteworthy personalities, were also present in the event, besides the film’s cast and crew.

Speaking at the event, Vasantha Balan said, “I am happy to see the Lingusamy universe here as he has managed to unite all the big filmmakers on this stage. He is the real warrior. He was by my bedside while I was at the hospital during Covid-19 time.” The filmmaker also revealed that Ram, who is making his debut in Tamil with The Warriorr, was earlier supposed to have been introduced with Kadhal (2004), which did not materialise at that time, and congratulated for the upcoming film.

Adding on to Vasantha Balan’s speech, Kadhal director Balaji Sakthivel said that Lingusamy was initially supposed to make a love story, but it did not materialise, after which he came up with The Warriorr script. “I was supposed to introduce Ram through Kadhal after watching his short film, but Lingusamy played a major role in introducing him now,” he added.

Calling the nerve centre of the industry circle, Mani Ratnam said Lingusamy was the connecting line of all the filmmakers. The ace filmmaker also added that while both his upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan, and The Warriorr were being shot during the same time in Hyderabad, Lingusamy was fast enough to wrap up his film and get it released.

Director Shankar compared that he could see actor Vikram’s talent in Ram and appreciated the raciness of the film as seen from the trailer. “It has all the good components of family emotions from Anandham, combat sequences from Sandakozhi and fast-paced nature of Run,” Shankar mentioned.

Ram Pothineni, who is making his debut with the film, thanked the team, including Devi Sri Prasad for the music and Silambarasan who sang the Bullet song.

Acknowledging the presence of all the prominent personalities, Lingusamy thanked his cast and crew for being energetic towards the making of the film. He also compared that he could find shades of actor Meera Jasmine in Krithi and added that she would go on to become a star.

“My producer, Srinivasaa Chitturri, never interfered in the creative process and aided the financial aspect.  Just like how Sandakozhi, Paiyya were turning point for many actors, so will be The Warriorr for Ram. He is an amalgamation of my heroes like Vikram, Mammootty sir, Suriya and others, who have worked with me till the date,” he added.
