Puthu Vellam: Soundarya Rajinikanth announces Ponniyin Selvan web series
The series made as an MX Player Original will be presented by Soundarya and directed by Sharath Jothi

Today, on the auspicious occasion of Vinayaka Chathurthi, Soundarya Rajinikanth has officially announced her new web series based on Kalki Krishnamoothy's historic novel Ponniyin Selvan. Titled Puthu Vellam - Ponniyin Selvan, the series is being made as an MX Player Original. Presented by Soundarya, the series is scripted and directed by Sharath Jothi.

This is the third project announced based on Ponniyin Selvan. Mani Ratnam is already helming a two-part film with a star-studded cast and crew. The first part is set for release in 2022.
Similarly, Ajay Pratheeb has announced a 125-episode series titled Chiranjeevi Ponniyin Selvan. It will have music by Ilaiyaraaja with Sabu Cyril and Antony handling the art direction and editing, respectively. The series is jointly produced by Eternitee Motion Krafte Pvt Ltd and Eterneity Star.
