Pa Ranjith reacts to Arivu's exclusion from promotions of Neeye Oli and Enjoy Enjaami

Director Pa Ranjith has questioned the music magazine Rolling Stone India and the music label Maajaa, the reason for omitting the name of singer and lyricist Arivu who has worked on the hit songs Neeye Oli and Enjoy Enjaami. In a strongly-worded tweet, the Kaala director said, "Arivu, the lyricist of Neeye Oli and singer as well as the lyricist of Enjoy Enjaami has once again been invisiblised. Rolling Stone India and Maajja, is it so difficult to understand that the lyrics of both songs challenge this erasure of public acknowledgment?"

This comes after the Indian edition of the famous Rolling Stone magazine interviewed singers Shan Vincent de Paul and Dhee who had lent their voice for the hit singles Neeye Oli and Enjoy Enjaami respectively. While Arivu has co-written Neeye Oli with Shan, he is also the lyricist of Enjoy Enjaami.

His exclusion from the promotions of both the songs has already become a topic of conversation in online forums. Here are some of the reactions...

Ironically, Enjoy Enjaami, which is considered a milestone single in the Tamil indie music space, is based on the story of Arivu's grandmother, Valliammal. While the remix version of the song by DJ Snake became the first-ever Independent Tamil song to get featured on Times Square Billboard, Netizens pointed out how Arivu's image was not used alongside Dhee on the billboard. The original, which was released five months ago on YouTube has garnered more than 318 million views.

On the other hand, Neeye Oli, which is a track from Ranjith's latest film, Sarpatta Parambarai, was also released as a video song on YouTube. The song features Shan Vincent de Paul and Navz-47 who have lent their voice for the track along with Santhosh Narayanan. Interestingly, both Enjoy Enjaami and Neeye Oli are composed by Santhosh Narayanan and the video songs are uploaded by the music label Maajaa that's backed by AR Rahman.

Meanwhile, Arivu's upcoming works include songs in Ajith's Valimai that's composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Suriya's Jai Bhim for which the music is composed by Sean Roldan.
