The presentation of the 67th National Film Awards was held earlier today. The awards, for films released in 2019, were presented by Indian Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. The winners were announced in March earlier this year. However, the awards ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Actor Dhanush was presented with the Best Actor award for his performance in Vetri Maaran's Asuran. Meanwhile, Asuran also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, and the award was received by director Vetri Maaran and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations.
Vijay Sethupathi was honoured with the Best Supporting Actor for his performance in his hit film Super Deluxe. The crowd applauded Vijay's victory, and actor Dhanush, in particular, gave a standing ovation to his colleague.
Music composer D Imman was awarded the Best Music Director Award for his composition in Ajith Kumar-starrer Viswasam.
Director-actor R Parthiepan was awarded the Special Jury National Award for his single-actor film Ottha Seruppu Size 7.
As the biggest highlight of the event, Superstar Rajinikanth was conferred with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award.
From Bollywood, actors Kangana Ranaut and Manoj Bajpayee won the Best Actor awards. Nitesh Tiwari's Chhichhore won the Best Hindi film award.
