Dinesh, who is still basking in the success of Lubber Pandhu and his portrayal of Gethu, is teaming up with first-time director Murali Krish for an upcoming film titled Karuppu Pulsar. Dinesh will be seen playing a dual role for the first time in this comedy-action film.

Murali says that he wants the title to convey the one-line of the film. "Now, if I say the film revolves around a pulsar, you may think of Polladhavan immediately. But my story does not resemble Vetri Sir's film. Karuppu Pulsar is a fine mixture of comedy, action, and commercial elements with an underlying message. The story revolves around the bike that Karuppu (Dinesh) wins in the Jallikattu contest and the conflicts that arise as a result," he says, adding, "Dinesh gave a double call sheet for the dual role but completed the shoot in just 23 days." Murali goes on to recount the complexities around filming the Jallikattu portions. "We didn't create sets for the Jallikattu scenes and sparsely used CG for the bulls. We sought special permission from the local authorities to not dismantle the Jallikattu makeshift playground after Pongal, and we shot the scenes there. Dinesh performed those scenes with minimal rehearsal. In retrospect, I'm surprised how we managed to pull off things," he says.

The debutant further says that Karuppu Pulsar will bind the sensibilities of comedy films and revenge films. "I come from the school of director Rajesh M, so there will be good humour segments in the film. However, there is also a strong message, and the flashback portion set in Madurai will leave an emotional impact on the audiences," he says, remarking that he didn't feel the 'market pressure' of Lubber Pandhu's success and just focused on the strengths of his film.

Along with Dinesh, Karuppu Pulsar also stars Rasavathi-fame Reshma Venkatesh, along with Madhunika, Prince Ajay, Mansoor Ali Khan, Kalaiyarasan, and Prankster Rahul. Though the film is yet to get a release date, Murali Krish says they're expecting to reveal it later this month.
