Vignesh Karthick: Hot Spot is heavily influenced by K Balachander films

Director Vignesh Karthick's new film has been titled Hot Spot. The title was announced with a first-look poster featuring the lead cast, including Kalaiyarasan, Sandy Master, Gouri G Kishan, Ammu Abhirami, Aadhitya Baaskar, Subash Selvam, Janani Iyer and  Sofia.

Opening up about the film's genre, Vignesh says, "Hot Spot is a hyperlink film following four individual stories. We can probably call it a quirky social drama". He further sheds light on the essence of the film's plot, "A lot of things happen around us without our knowledge of their negative impact. We usually don't give much attention to these fundamental things that need kindness; instead, we overlook them. The realisation hits us only when the consequences affect us. Hot Spot revolves around this core idea."

Vignesh reveals that each of the stories will have a unique treatment and flavour,"While one story makes you laugh, the other will shock you. For instance, Kalaiyarasan's segment is high on emotions, while Sandy's segment is hilarious." He adds that he cast Gouri G Kishan and Aadhitya Baaskar in Hotspot because he wanted to see them play a pair after 96.

Calling Hot Spot a bold film, Vignesh signs off, saying, "K Balachander sir is a maverick who has broken stereotypes in his films and our film is heavily influenced by his works."

Produced by KJ Balamanimarbhan and Suresh Kumar under the banner of KJB Talkies and 7 Warrior Films, the technical crew of Hot Spot comprises cinematographer Gokul Benoy, editor Muthaiyan and music directors Satish Ragunathan and Vaan. The film is expected to be released in March.
