Bigg Boss-fame Shariq Hassan and Ammu Abhirami have joined hands for a film titled Jigiri Dosthu. The film is written and directed by debutant Aran V, who assisted Shankar in 2.0.
Apart from directing the film, Aran will also act in one of the lead roles. "I have always wanted to be an actor. Rajinikanth and director Shankar encouraged me to dabble in both acting and directing, seeing the short films I made," he says.
Sharing details regarding the storyline of Jigiri Dosthu, Aran says, "Three friends witness a girl being kidnapped en route their road trip to Mahabalipuram. They attempt to save the girl using a phone-tapping device called 'terrorist tracker' which is invented by my character. The rest of the film revolves around how they save the girl." Interestingly, the film is partially inspired by Aran's own life where his college friend ran a few codes and found a similar technology.
Aran mentions that there has been a general perception among people that youngsters of this generation are not responsible enough. "I wanted to break that and prove that they have the potential to win and bring about a change in society," he adds.
Apart from Shariq Hassan and Ammu Abhirami, the cast of Jigiri Dosthu also features VJ Ashiq Hussain, Pavithra Lakshmi, Anupama Kumar, Gautham Sundararajan, Sivam, Jangiri Madhumitha, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru fame Sarath and late actor RNR Manohar in prominent roles.
The technical team of Jigiri Dosthu consists of cinematographer Saran RV, music composer Ashwin Vinayagamoorthy and editor Arul Mozhi Varman. Produced by K Pradeep Jose and co-produced by SB Arjunar with Aran also as one of the producers, the film is all set for release in mid-December.
