Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer confess to crushing on each other during the filming of Friends

Actors Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer have confessed that they had feelings for each other off-the-camera during the first few seasons of Friends. The actors said this in the much-awaited Friends: The Reunion episode which dropped earlier today.

In the episode, host  James Corden asked the six actors Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and Schwimmer if there were any off-screen romances between them, to which Aniston was quick to point out at Schwimmer.

Schwimmer replied, "Yeah, the first season I had a major crush on Jen. We were both crushing hard on each other but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship. So we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."

In Friends, Schwimmer's Ross Geller and Aniston's Rachel Greene were involved in one of TV's most iconic love stories, and Aniston added that they channelled their adoration and love for each other through their characters.

Aniston said this while speaking about the first kiss shared between Ross and Rachel at the coffee shop in the second season. "Honestly, I remember saying one time to David, 'It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television.' Sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop. We just channelled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel."

The duo added that their feelings for each other were even visible as they "used to cuddle on the couch, or spoon and fall asleep on the couch." Schwimmer followed it up by asking the rest of the crew if they knew about it, and Cox, Kudrow, Perry and LeBlanc replied in unison, "We knew, for sure."

Friends aired from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, lasting ten seasons. The show is widely regarded as one of the most popular sitcoms.

Friends: The Reunion is currently streaming on HBO Max. Viewers in India can watch the special episode on Zee5.
