Not suing KRK for review: Salman Khan’s lawyers on defamation case

Salman Khan’s lawyers have released a statement on their recent defamation suit against Kamaal Rashid Khan (KRK).

On Wednesday, KRK put up a picture of the defamation notice on Twitter. He alleged he’s being hounded by Salman for unfavourably reviewing his latest film, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai.

Addressing the matter, Salman’s lawyers claimed the case has not been filed against the review. Instead, they are suing KRK for his smear campaign against Salman and his brand Being Human.

“Mr. Kamaal R Khan, the Defendant, has put out a series of tweets and videos alleging that Mr. Salman Khan has sued him for defamation because the Defendant reviewed the film, Radhe,” the statement reads.

“This is incorrect. The suit has been filed as the Defendant has been publishing and endorsing defamatory allegations, including that Mr. Salman Khan is corrupt, that he and his brand “Being Human” are involved in fraud, manipulation and money laundering transactions, that he and Salman Khan Films are dacoits.”

“The Defendant has been spreading malicious falsehoods and defaming Mr. Salman Khan consistently over several months, clearly with a view to draw attention to himself,” the statement adds.

On Thursday, KRK’s lawyer reportedly told a Mumbai court that he will not put up any controversial remarks against Salman until the next hearing. "The Hon’ble Court has been pleased to pass an order taking into account this statement made by Mr. Kamaal R. Khan’s lawyer," the statement ends.

Salman is represented by DSK Legal, a leading law firm in Mumbai.
