The Tamil remake of Joe Baby's Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen, has gone on floors today. It is directed by R Kannan, whose last release, Biskoth, was among the first few Tamil films to hit screens post-lockdown.

Aishwarya Rajesh will be stepping into the shoes of Nimisha Sajayan from the original. The rest of the cast and crew of the film is yet to be revealed.

The Great Indian Kitchen premiered on Neestream in January and received praise for its treatment of themes such as patriarchy and sexism.

Aside from this project, Aishwarya Rajesh has multiple films in various stages of production in Telugu and Tamil, including Tuck Jagdish, Republic, and Dhruva Natchathiram.

Kannan is awaiting the release of his Atharvaa-Anupama Parameswaran film, Thalli Pogathey, a remake of the Telugu film, Ninnu Kori.
