Actors Morgan Spector and Phylicia Rashad are the latest additions to the growing ensemble of the upcoming thriller feature Nanny.
The actors join Anna Diop, Michelle Monaghan and Sinqua Walls, in the film produced by Stay Gold Features, Topic Studios and LinLay Productions.
Nanny, written and directed by debutant Nikyatu Jusu, follows an undocumented nanny, Aisha (Diop) who begins to work for a wealthy Manhattan family on the Upper East Side in the hopes that she may earn enough money to bring her six-year-old son from West Africa to live with her in New York. As Aisha begins to care for the privileged child of Adam (Spector) and Amy (Monaghan), and as she prepares for the arrival of her son, a violent supernatural presence invades her reality and threatens the 'American Dream' she so painstakingly pieced together.
Rashad will play Kathleen, the matriarch of her family, who is also an unofficial bridge to the supernatural.
The production of the film is set to begin later this week in New York.
Nanny will be produced by Nikkia Moulterie and Stay Gold Features’ Daniela Taplin Lundberg. Maria Zuckerman, Ryan Heller and Michael Bloom will executive produce for Topic Studios. Rebecca Cammarata of Stay Gold Features, Sumalee Montano and Grace Lay of LinLay Productions will also executive produce. Director Jusu is also executive producing.
