The straight-to-streaming release of Vijay Devarakonda's Telugu-Hindi bilingual Liger has been a matter of speculation over the past few weeks. On Monday, the Arjun Reddy-actor took to Twitter to put the rumours to rest. While sharing the screenshot of an internet post that said that the film's team was offered ₹200 crores for a direct OTT release, Vijay wrote, "Too little. I'll do more in theatres."
Directed by Telugu filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, Liger is a co-production between Puri Connects and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Billed as a sports drama, the film reportedly stars Vijay as a kickboxer, and features Ananya Pandey as the female lead. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan in a prominent role. The makers of the film are currently waiting for the relaxation of lockdown restrictions to resume the pending photography.
Meanwhile, Vijay was last seen in the 2020-film World Famous Lover and also appeared in a cameo in Jathi Ratnalu earlier this year. He is also set to collaborate with filmmaker Sukumar for an untitled project after the latter finishes his work on the Pushpa duology.
