M Night Shyamalan shares classics that inspired Old

Filmmaker M Night Shyamalan shared the films that influenced his latest film, Old. The Unbreakable-director took to Twitter earlier today to share some of the classics that have inspired him.

"For my fellow film nerds: Old was inspired by classic movies. Some of them are: Nicholas Roeg’s Walkabout, Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock, Kaneto Shindo’s Kuroneko, Luis Bunuel’s The Exterminating Angel, Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, and of course The Twilight Zone TV show."

Inspired by the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters, Old film follows a family on a vacation to a secluded beach, where they are shocked to discover that all of the family members—from kids to grownups—are aging rapidly in a span of few hours.

In addition to directing Old, Shyamalan has written the screenplay and co-produced the film with Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock.

Old released in the US on July 23 and has topped the box office chart during its opening weekend. There has been no official word on the film's release in India yet.
