Aari Arjunan wins Bigg Boss Tamil season 4; Balaji Murugadoss comes second

The much-awaited grand finale of Bigg Boss Tamil 4 streamed on Sunday

The much-awaited grand finale of Bigg Boss Tamil 4 was telecast on Sunday, and Aari Arjunan was declared the winner.

After staying inside the house for over 105 days, Aari Arjunan, Balaji Murugadoss, Ramya Pandian, Som Shekar and Rio Raj entered the final round, and the audience couldn't wait to tune in to Vijay TV and Disney+ Hotstar to find out who won the title.

Before the show started, Bigg Boss announced that more than 290 crore votes were registered this season. Host Kamal Haasan kicked off the six-hour show by addressing how he felt while hosting a show without a physical audience. "Even I felt like the contestants, as I couldn't get instant feedback from the crowd. Whenever I leave the set, people I meet outside shower me with their affection, and only that kept motivating me. I'll never forget that," he said.

Later on, Kamal gave personalised gifts to each of the finalists, before letting them speak to their loved ones virtually. Kamal also motivated the finalists with a few words of wisdom.

The show saw some stellar live performances from former contestants Archana, Samyuktha, Vel Murugan, Suchithra, and Aajeedh. At one point, Kamal himself performed poetry and sang a song to loud cheers. One unexpected highlight was when Kamal Haasan launched his own brand of khadi clothing called 'House of Khaddar'. The host has been vocal about his support for khadi throughout the show, and he even gifted khadi clothes to each of the contestants, including the finalists, during the finale.

In between all this, contestants from previous seasons of Bigg Boss, Mugen, Kavin, and Sherin returned to the house to eliminate the finalists, one by one. Som, Ramya and Rio were eliminated, in that order, and it was finally a battle between the two of the most popular contestants this year - Aari and Bala.

After some nail-biting moments, Aari was declared the winner of the season, and Balaji was declared runner-up. An emotional Aari while speaking about the victory said, "I've never been first at anything. I was never recognised. At this moment, I miss my parents the most."

Bala was also a little shaken up. He said, "I thank all the audience members who voted for me. Amidst all that I spoke inside, you guys found the good in me and that's why I'm the runner-up right now."

With the victory, Aari won a Rs 50 lakh cash award from Bigg Boss, and the finale came to an end.
