Alia Bhatt's next, Darlings, backed by Shah Rukh Khan, to go on floors
Darlings is pitched as a quirky story about a mother-daughter duo played by Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt
Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming production, Darlings, starring Alia Bhatt, is set to go on floors soon.
Directed by Jasmeet K Reen, Darlings is pitched as a quirky story about a mother-daughter duo played by Shefali Shah and Alia. The film also stars Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in important roles.
An official announcement is expected this week and, according to a source, Darlings will go on the floors as early as the first quarter of 2021.
"The film is set in Mumbai against the backdrop of a middle-class family and traces the lives of two women, as they find courage and love in exceptional circumstances. The pre-production work is going on in full swing, and the team is all set to take it on floors very soon in Mumbai. In fact, the movie is gearing up for release this year itself," the source reveals.
This is the second time Alia and Shah Rukh are collaborating after Gauri Shinde's 2016 film, Dear Zindagi, in which they co-starred.
Besides Darlings, Shah Rukh is also backing Love Hostel, featuring Bobby Deol, Vikrant Massey and Sanya Malhotra. This film is all set to go on floors. The actor is also producing Abhishek Bachchan's upcoming film, Bob Biswas. That project is in the post-production stage and is gearing up for a Summer 2021 opening.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is also currently busy shooting for his next film, Pathan. The film will mark his return to the screen for the first time since his 2018 release Zero.
