Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu reunite for sci-fi thriller Dobaaraa

The film will be produced by Cult Movies, a new division under Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms

Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu are reuniting for an upcoming film titled Dobaaraa. A new age thriller, the film will be produced by Cult Movies - a new division under Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. Anurag and Taapsee had previously collaborated on 2018’s Manmarziyaan.

Dobaaraa is a science-fiction thriller based on time travel. The announcement teaser features Anurag showing up on Taapsee’s screen on a stormy night. As she quizzes him how he entered her TV, he pitches her the script of Dobaaraa

“Our vision with Dobaaraa is to bring a fresh, new story to the audience and I am very excited for it,” Anurag shared. “This will be my third collaboration with Taapsee (including Saand Ki Aankh) and this time the attempt is to bring an interesting new take on thrillers.”

Taapsee added, “I have been very lucky with (the) thriller genre in my career so far and I always look forward to pushing the envelope under this genre. This is going to be unique more so because it’s got someone like Anurag directing it and Ekta backing it.”

With Cult Movies, Ekta intends to back unconventional, avant-garde content. The new division of Balaji Telefilms will collaborate with directors and writers telling bold, ballsy stories.

“I am thrilled that Anurag is directing the first film under Cult Movies, with Taapsee in the lead,” Ekta said. “Neither of them subscribe to the conventional and have always pushed boundaries when it comes to delivering different content. I can’t wait for the world to see 2:12! “

Dobaaraa is produced by Cult along with Sunir Kheterpal’s ATHENA and Gaurav Bose’s The Vermillion World Production.
