Titans season 3 to star Vincent Kartheiser as Scarecrow

Actor Vincent Kartheiser has joined the cast of the superhero series Titans. Kartheiser will star as Jonathan Crane (otherwise known as Scarecrow) in the upcoming season 3 of the show on HBO Max.

In the show, Kartheiser's character Crane is an Arkham Asylum inmate who terrorises Gotham City using toxins that let him exploit his enemies’ fears. This is not the first live-action adaptation of the popular character. Crane has appeared in Fox series Gotham (played by David W Thompson) and in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy (played by Cillian Murphy)

According to Variety, the upcoming season will also introduce new characters such as Barbara Gordon and Tim Drake.

Developed by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti, based on characters from DC, the first season of the show premiered in October 2018. The show was renewed for a third season in November 2019. However, in September 2020, it was announced that  DC Universe was moving out of original scripted series, with its remaining scripted originals all shifting over to HBO Max. This included Titans, Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn.

Kartheiser is best known for his role as Pete Campbell in AMC's Mad Men. His other TV credits include Casual and The Path at Hulu, National Geography's Saints & Sinners, Sky TV's Das Boot and Netflix's The OA.

Goldsman, Johns, and Berlanti executively produce along with Greg Walker and Sarah Schechter. The series is produced by Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
