Veteran film editor Waman Bhonsle passes away

Waman had worked on iconic films like Inkaar, Saudagar, Mausam, Karz, Agneepath, Ram Lakhan and more

Veteran film editor Waman Bhonsle passed away in Mumbai today. He was 89.

In his four-decade career, Waman had worked on iconic Hindi films like Inkaar, Saudagar, Mausam, Karz, Agneepath, Ram Lakhan and more. He won the National Film Award for Best Editing in 1978 for Inkaar. He worked with legendary directors like RN Sippy, Gulzar, Shekhar Kapur, Subhas Ghai, Mahesh Bhatt and others.

In 2015, Waman was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the state government of Goa, his home state.

“RIP Waman bhonsle. A master film editor who edited more than 400 films in 1970s and 90s. And trained more than 25 editors from scratch,” Subhash Ghai tweeted.
