Fahadh Faasil on Malik's OTT release: It is with a heavy heart that we took the decision

Fahadh Faasil took to social media to share a statement about his team's decision to release his upcoming film Malik directly on OTT. The actor also updated his fans about his recovery from the injury he suffered during the shooting of his film, Malayankunju

In the statement, Fahadh spoke about how taking Malik down the OTT route wasn't an easy one. "With a heavy heart, the director, the producer, all the technicians, and the rest of us have opted for an OTT release for our very ambitious project, Malik. Each and everyone associated with Malik has put in over a year's time to bring this project together," read the post which also said how, unlike his recent OTT releases, C U Soon, Irul and Joji, which were planned for OTT right from the beginning, Malik was designed for a theatrical experience. "It was the only film I had ready when theatres would open to full capacity. The decision has been collective and I personally request everyone to see it in the best interest of the film. In all honesty, I cannot wait for the theatres to regain normalcy but today, every individual is fighting to regain normalcy in their respective space. At this point, all that I can take responsibility for is an absolute fresh theatrical experience when I see you all in theatres next."

Fahadh also spoke about the nose injury that forced him to undergo surgery. "I was also undergoing recovery from the accident I had during Malayankunju. So, in my calendar, the lockdown started on March 2. My doctors said it was ‘close’. As a defence mechanism, my hands touched the ground before my face, which in 80 per cent of the cases, the victims fail to do. I was lucky I didn’t lose my presence of mind, my doctor added. There again, I was lucky with life for the nth time," the post read.

The actor also surprisingly opened up about his personal life. Fahadh shared his experience of getting into a relationship with actor Nazriya Nazim when they worked in director Anjali Menon’s 2014 film Bangalore Days. “7 years of Bangalore days brings back so many good memories. Falling head over heels for Nazriya, the beginning of my journey with her. I asked her out over a handwritten letter and slipped a ring along. She didn’t say yes. But she didn’t say NO either!! I shot Bangalore days along with two other films. I used to look forward to returning to shoot Bangalore days,” said Fahadh. "I loved being around Nazriya. But my thoughts were random. I don’t know if it sounds well now, but at that point, there was a lot Nazriya had to give up choosing me. It absolutely worried me and I kept fluctuating. It’s just when I thought it was all going to be over because I am not strong enough she said, ‘Hello, method actor, who do you think you are? It’s just one simple life, pack your bags with everyone and everything you need'," he added and mentioned how they have been married for seven years now.

The post concluded on a positive note, where he believed the "difficult time" would end soon to hearld a "new beginining." Apart from the Malayalam projects he has in hand, Fahadh will also be making his Telugu debut with Allu Arjun's Pushpa. After Velaikkaran and Super Deluxe, the actor will also be returning to Tamil cinema with Kamal Haasan - Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram that's expected to go on floors from next month.
