Last year, Sony Pictures had acquired the film rights to The Kaiju Score comic series from AfterShock and writer James Patrick. The latest update is that the studio has roped in Brian and Mark Gunn to adapt the screenplay to screen.
Though plot details are currently kept under wraps, the comic series, hailing from Patrick and artist Rem Broo, follows four characters who are attempting a dangerous heist during a giant monster (kaiju) attack.
Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producing the film along with Tony Shaw. AfterShock Media’s Lee Kramer and Jon Kramer will also produce. Jiao Chen is overseeing the project for Sony Pictures.
Cousins Brian and Mark Gunn recently wrote and executive produced 2019’s horror-thriller, Brightburn. The duo also wrote Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, starring Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine, which grossed $335.3 million worldwide.
