Disney+Hotstar announces Tamil originals and release date of Mookuthi Amman

Disney+ Hotstar announced its upcoming slate of Tamil originals today through an online press conference titled Koffee With Kollywood. The streaming platform is set to foray into Tamil content with four new series and the film, Mookuthi Amman. The four series lined up are Live Telecast, November Story, Triples, and My Perfect Husband.

Nayanthara-starrer Mookuthi Amman, directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan, has been confirmed as a direct OTT release and it will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar this Diwali.

Live Telecast, directed by Venkat Prabhu, is a horror series that stars Kajal Aggarwal in the lead and also has Vaibhav and Anandhi. Venkat assures that the audience will see a new dimension of Kajal. "Unlike her usual bubbly roles, Kajal plays a commanding director in Live Telecast. The series will be high on entertainment and will appeal to rural audiences too."

Sathyaraj and Seetha, who have been paired up in films like Mallu Vetti Minor and Thambi, have once again joined hands for the family drama series, My Perfect Husband, directed by Thamira of Aan Devathai fame. Sathyaraj calls it "an unconventional story of finding love in old age." The veteran actor says he is delighted to make his OTT debut with the series.

Triples is a comedy series starring Jai and Vani Bhojan. Produced by Karthik Subbaraj and directed by debutant Charukesh, the promos promise a comedy of errors.

Tamannaah's first OTT series, November Story is a thriller directed by newcomer Indira Subramanian. It also stars GM Kumar and Vivek Prasanna in important roles.

Sunil Rayan, President & Head, Disney+ Hotstar, assures that all the originals will be dubbed into six regional languages and made available to the audience along with their Tamil versions.

It may be noted that Hotstar is also said to be making its own original anthology, just like Amazon Prime's Putham Pudhu Kaalai and Netflix's Paava Kadhaigal. However, today's event featured no mention of this anthology.
