Mane Number 13, directed by Vivy Kathiresan, is about the spooky journey of five friends. The film, which is also made in Tamil as 13 Aam Number Veedu, is getting released on Amazon Prime today.

Bankrolled by Krishna Chaitanya, who produced films such as 6-5=2, Karva, and Dia, the film features Ramana, Sanjeev, Chethan Gandharva, Aishwarya Gowda, Praveen Prem, and Varsha Bollamma in the lead roles.

“The subject of the movie as well as the director was referred to me by actor Ramana. I did not choose this just because of my previous success with the horror genre. I was actually confident about the content,” says the producer.

Krishna is known as one of the few producers who likes to rope in newcomers, and with this film, he is again introducing a bunch of fresh talents to the industry. “The exciting thing about Mane Number 13 is that it has a twist every ten minutes. Whatever the viewers think might happen, is not what unfolds,” he says, adding that it's a blessing to have OTT platforms in the present situation. “Having said that, whether on OTT or theatres, reaching out to the audience is the main factor.”

Director Vivy Kathiresan has shot almost the entire film in one house, with only a small portion set in a forest. “The number 13 is associated with ghosts, and that's why we went with this title,” says Krishna. However, the producer reveals that the number has been lucky for him, and he hopes it will continue to be so.

Mane Number 13 has cinematography by Sandeep Sadashiv and music by AM Sha. JF Castro has handled the editing.
