Director SA Chandrasekar, father of actor Vijay, has now gone back on his earlier request to convert his son's fan club into a political party. Earlier, he had applied to the Election Commission to turn the fan club into All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.

Two weeks ago, the director turned a lot of heads with his request. Vijay subsequently issued a statement against his father, categorically denying any link to the party his father was starting. He added, "I request my fans to not join this political party or work for it simply because my father has started it. I reiterate that there is no connection between that party and us and our movement. Appropriate action will be taken against them if they engage in any activities using my name, photo, or the name of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam."

Later, when asked about Vijay's statement, SAC said that his move was only for the welfare of his son and his fans. It is unknown why the director has taken a U-turn now.
