Every film I make will be a Kannada movie: Prashanth Neel

Speculations of KGF director Prashanth Neel teaming up with a couple of top Telugu actors such as Mahesh Babu and Junior NTR have been doing the rounds for almost a year now. A recent tweet by Prashanth on the occasion of Jr NTR’s birthday got the rumour mills running overtime.

This tweet led to further speculations about a prospective collaboration between the actor and director. Some of Prashanth’s fans took to social media and expressed worry over such a move, which would result in the promising director shifting base from Kannada to other industries.

When asked about these speculations, Prashanth says, “It is the Kannada people who helped me earn a name in the industry and provided me bread. Kannada is in my DNA. Right now, I can’t confirm on future projects as my attention is completely on KGF Chapter 2. But I assure that every film I make will be a Kannada movie.”

The Ugramm director, who gained pan-Indian notice with the Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 1, is currently working on the post-production of the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster. Having completed the editing work for the portions he has shot, Prashanth is now working on re-recording for the film with the music director.

The team is left with 30 days of shooting, which they plan to finish once the government grants permission to resume shooting.

Made under the banner Hombale Films and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, KGF Chapter 2 will be released across India. The makers have zeroed in on October 23 as the release date.
