Director Shivaram Mony back with Thi.Mi.Ram

Filmmaker Shivaram Mony, who made his directorial debut with Matchbox three years ago, is coming out with his new film titled Thi. Mi. Ram (Cataract), starring KK Sudhakaran, Rachana Narayanankutty and Vishak Nair.

Being touted as a female empowerment film, its tagline Kannaanu pennu equates a woman to the eye. Shivaram Mony reveals that Thi.Mi.Ram is the story of a seventy-year-old man's cataract-related issues and the complications resulting from his cataract surgery.

"The protagonist, a middle-class man, earns his bread and butter by selling curry masalas to local shops. He is a male chauvinist who denigrates women in the belief that they are inferior to men and thus deserving of less than equal treatment or benefit. His disrespect towards women is deep-rooted from childhood itself," said Sivaram, adding that the title carries different layers of meaning. "In other words, the title and movie itself is a metaphor. The female characters of the movie are the epitome of self-respect and women's integrity. Even though they have been suffering because of the protagonist's attitude, they cherish their self-respect."

A feature film director and editor, Shivaram was discovered by prominent Malayalam producers G Suresh Kumar and Menaka, who produce films under the banner of Revathy Kalamandhir. Shivaram started off as a short filmmaker in 2006, and has worked on several short films and bagged several awards.
