We had earlier reported that the Tamil remake of Andhadhun, starring Prashanth, would be helmed by director Mohan Raja. However, in a surprising turn of events, the reins have been handed over to JJ Fredrick, who recently made his directorial debut with the Jyotika-starrer Ponmagal Vandhal.
Prashanth is stepping into the shoes of Ayushmann Khurrana, who won a National Award for his role in the original, directed by Sriram Raghavan. The remake rights of the Hindi film was bagged by actor-director Thiyagarajan's Star Movies banner.
Fredrick is now in the process of finalising the rest of the cast and crew, and the makers are in talks with some prominent stars to reprise the roles of Tabu and Radhika Apte.
The shooting of Andhadhun's Tamil remake will begin in the first week of December. The makers are planning to release the film in 2021.
