After Ramayan and Mahabharat, Shah Rukh Khan’s Circus returns to television

The show will be re-telecast from 8 pm on DD National on Saturday

Recently, the epic television shows Ramayana and Mahabharata were brought back on Doordarshan. The announcement was made following increased public demand for these shows, as the nation observes a 21-day lockdown and stays indoors.

Adding to the list of classic reruns, Aziz Mirza's Circus (1989) – starring a fledgling Shah Rukh Khan – will be re-telecast from 8 pm on DD National on Saturday.

The public broadcaster channel tweeted,

Co-directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah, Circus ran for 19 episodes on DD National. The show, set in a circus troupe, starred Shah Rukh Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker in the lead roles. Along with the military series Fauji (1989), Circus is credited for kick-starting Shah Rukh’s career. He later followed it up with his Hindi film debut in Deewana (1992).
