The trailer of Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 2 is out. The action-packed sequel finds Superintendent of Police Shivani Shivaji Roy on the trail of a 21-year-old villain who targets women. The trailer opens with a statistic about the frequency of rapes committed by minor boys in India. Over flashes of a grizzly crime, we follow Shivani as she pieces together the clues and tracks down a serial rapist (Vishal Jethwa).

Mardaani 2 is directed by Gopi Puthran and produced by Yash Raj Films. The previous instalment, directed by Pradeep Sarkar, was released in 2014. Speaking about the sequel, Gopi had stated, “Rani as Shivani will be seen in a massive showdown with a 21-year-old villain who is an embodiment of pure evil. He is a dangerous criminal who targets women.”

Mardaani 2 also stars Vikram Singh Chauhan, Rajesh Sharma, Shruti Bapna and Deepika Amin. The action-thriller is set for release on December 13.
