Iru Kodugal to be screened at the 50th edition of IFFI under the Golden Lining Indian Films section

Late legendary director K Balachander's 1969 film, Iru Kodugal, starring Gemini Ganesan, Sowcar Janaki, and Jayanthi will be screened at the 50th edition of IFFI under the Golden Lining Indian Films section.

Iru Kodugal won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, and marked Balachander's first National award win. The film, which was based on a stage play of the same name, became a superhit and was remade in Kannada as Eradu Rekhegalu, in Telugu as Collector Janaki and in Hindi as Sanjog.

Interestingly IFFI, in its 50th year dedicates a section for films released in 1969, who turn 50 this year. These include National Award-winning films from all parts of India. The package includes Films in Odiya, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Assamese and Malayalam.

The golden jubilee edition of the IFFI will witness over 200 films from 76 countries. With the screening of 26 feature films and 15 non-feature films in the Indian panorama section, around 10,000 people and film lovers are expected to attend and participate in the edition, which will take place from the 20th to the 28th of November at Panjim, Goa.
