In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland (alongside Mark Ruffalo) is infamous for giving out spoilers. So much so that Marvel had to appoint his co-stars in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame to babysit him during promotions. With no one now to stop him, the Spider-Man actor has once again done what he does best — dropped a spoiler from Spider-Man: Far From Home much to the shock and excitement of fans present at a promotional event.

At the press event Tom Holland was asked about actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who is entering the franchise as Mysterio, and Holland said, "Mysterio is my new best friend in the movie. We fight these creatures together. Because when Thanos snaps his fingers, these creatures come from other dimensions."

The actor then realised that he had said too much and gasped an "Oh," but it was too late and the crowd had started cheering by then.

While it was known that the Jon Watt-directorial will be dealing with the aftermath of the death of Iron Man/Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, no one knew the origins of the creatures seen in the Far From Home trailer before Holland spilled the beans.

Meanwhile, as this was happening, a Spider-Man: Far From Home tie-in toy has revealed that Mysterio, contrary to what is shown in the trailer, might actually turn out to be the villain as in the comics. Quentin Beck aka Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is shown in the trailer as a superhero from another universe, who has arrived in Earth 616 after the snap in Avengers: Endgame tore an inter-dimensional portal that made passage between realities possible. However an image, shared on Imgur by user Hellokingg (via CBR) is a photo of a Far From Home Mysterio figure that reads: "MYSTERIO IS A MASTER OF ILLUSION AND A SWORN ENEMY OF SPIDER-MAN"

Having the knowledge that Mysterio will eventually turn against Fury and Peter in Spider-Man: Far From Home may be a cause for concern as this can be taken as a straight-up spoiler. Homecoming was criticised for the same thing when one of its trailers feature the emotional confrontation between Stark and Spider-Man on the rooftop, though the movie managed to keep its best reveal for later in the film. Holland has promised a similar surprise in Far From Home.

Sony Pictures Entertainment India will release the film in the country on July 5.
