Hrithik Roshan shifts Super 30 release date again, condemns 'open and blatant harassment'

Just two days after producers Reliance Entertainment confirmed that their film Super 30 will be released on July 26, lead actor Hrithik Roshan today announced his decision to shift the release date once again so as not to allow the film “to be desecrated by yet another media circus.”

Earlier this week, it was announced that Kangana Ranaut-Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming film, Mental Hai Kya, has been shifted to July 26 from June 21, thus clashing with Hrithik’s film at the box-office. This was followed by Kangana's sister, Rangoli Chandel, launching a series of verbal attacks against Hrithik on Twitter. Despite Mental Hai Kya producers Balaji Motion Pictures stating that they had assured the opposite party about averting 'mud slinging' and promised a 'dignified release', Hrithik appears to have taken the matter to heart and has asked his producers to release the film at a later date.

“So as not to allow my film to be desecrated by yet another media circus, I have decided to shift the release date of my film Super 30 in order to save myself from the personal trauma and toxic mental violence this would cause,” the actor said in a statement. “Despite the film being ready, I have asked my producers to shift and announce the next suitable date as soon as possible. Over the past few years, to my utter dismay, I have been witness to a lot of us cheering and encouraging what was/is an open and blatant case of harassment. I must even now, what patiently and silently for the collective consciousness of society to take cognizance of such matters in order to maintain our faith in (the) civility of our society. This unrelenting helplessness must end,” he added.

Super 30 was earlier slated to clash with Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi in January. Hrithik's film, which is based on the life of mathematician and teacher Anand Kumar, was eventually shifted to July 26, following sexual harassment allegations against its director, Vikas Bahl.

We are awaiting a response from Reliance Entertainment about the new release date of Super 30.
