I've compromised on my salary in many films to encourage deserving talents: Yogi Babu

The audio of Yogi Babu's fantasy film, Dharma Prabhu, was launched today. Director Muthukumaran, composer Justin Prabhakaran, and actor Rekha were in attendance, along with other members of the cast and crew.

Speaking at the event, Yogi Babu, who has also written the dialogues for the film, said, "I signed Gurkha and Dharma Prabhu around the same time, and I shot simultaneously for both. I slept for only one hour every day during the shooting and lost a lot of weight. Director Muthukumaran and I were roommates, and we came up with this one line ten years ago. I'm happy that our dream has come true." In response to Gnanavel Raja, who quipped that Yogi Babu is getting paid in lakhs every day, he said, "If I had demanded hefty pay from all the producers, I would have been jobless by now. In fact, for many projects, I've compromised on my salary to encourage deserving talents. People often say that I've easily become a successful comedian as I didn't have any competition. But I would like to register that I've always faced competition. Lot of people have fought similar battles and won in the past, and new comedians might replace me in the future. It's just a matter of time."

Rekha, who plays Yogi Babu's mother in the film, said she wanted to play his pair in his next. "From the moment I signed Dharma Prabhu, I was constantly spoken about in the news and social media. The makers initially offered me a different role, but I insisted that they gave me a light-hearted role, where I can have combination scenes with Yogi Babu and got this. I want to be like Manorama who played a wide range of roles. So, I would like to play Yogi Babu's pair in the future."

The shooting for Dharma Prabhu, which also stars Radha Ravi and Ramesh Thilak, is almost complete, with only one song left to be filmed. The film is expected to hit the screens this summer.
