Aruvi director Arun Prabhu Purushothaman's next, produced by Sivakarthikeyan, titled Vaazhl (வாழ்)

The director talks to us about the film, whose first look was released earlier today

Director Arun Prabhu Purushothaman, who debuted with critically-acclaimed Aruvi, has been working on his next project for more than a year now. After several months of no updates, the project has now been titled Vaazhl (வாழ்). The first look of the film, bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan Productions, has also been released.

The poster shows a young man, standing on some rocks inside what appears to be a cave, looking up at the opening above him as sunrays poke through the mist.

While reports were rife that the film revolves around a 90-year-old, whose life takes unexpected turns after some youngsters accidentally enter his house, Arun Prabhu says that it's not a single person's story. "There are several important characters. All these roles will be played by newcomers. The film is about their dynamics."

Arun Prabhu also reveals that Vaazhl was supposed to be his first film, but got postponed because of unavoidable reasons. "We will complete the shoot in another three days, and I am waiting to see the footage that we've shot on the editing table," he adds.

Yesterday, the team had released a poster announcing the date and time of the release of the first look, and the director tells us that poster had more clues about the film than the actual first look poster.

"We specifically didn't want to reveal much in the first look, unlike my first film Aruvi, whose first look conveyed the entire story. We will reveal the details in stages. It will be worth the wait," Arun promises.

Vaazhl (வாழ்) reportedly features nonagenarian actor, SN Bhatt. The film, with music by Pradeep Kumar, cinematography by Shelly, and editing by Raymond Derrick Crasta, is expected to get a release in the third quarter of this year.
