Vetrimaaran's Asuran, starring Dhanush, to arrive for Dussehra?

The makers of director Vetrimaaran and Dhanush's upcoming film, Asuran, are reportedly eyeing a release an October 2 release, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanthi, followed by the extended Dussehra weekend.
The fourth film of the duo is currently in its final leg of the shoot, and in a recent interview, Vetrimaaran had disclosed that Dhanush will be seen playing the roles of a father and son in Asuran. It can be noted that Dhanush has previously played identical twins in the 2016 political drama, Kodi. Interestingly, Dhanush's upcoming film with Durai Senthilkumar also features the actor in a dual role.
Based on Poomani’s Vekkai novel, Asuran is said to be a rural drama set between the 60s and 80s. The film also stars Manju Warrier (in her Tamil debut), Pasupathy, Balaji Shakthivel, Karunas’ son Ken and Pawan in pivotal roles.
With music by GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Velraj, Asuran is bankrolled by S Thanu under his banner V Creations.
The director-actor duo is expected to start working on Vada Chennai sequel after wrapping up Asuran. Apart from these projects, Dhanush has his own directorial co-starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Srikanth and two films with Pariyerum Perumal-fame Mari Selvaraj and Ratsasan-fame Ramkumar, respectively, in his kitty.
