Simbu's Maanadu to go on floors this month

Last year, Venkat Prabhu had announced that he will be joining hands with Simbu aka STR for a film, titled Maanadu. Early this year, rumours were rife that the film had been shelved because of a disagreement between Simbu and the director. But, the producer of the film, Suresh Kamatchi then took to Twitter to announce that the project is very much on.

Now, we hear that the film will go on floors next week. A source close to the unit attributes the delay in starting the shoot to Simbu's visit to the UK, which the actor was very particular about, to get into shape for the role. 

Venkat Prabhu had earlier revealed on Twitter that Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of famed director Priyadarshan, will be playing the female lead.

This is the first time that Simbu and Venkat Prabhu are collaborating on a film. While the filmmaker is currently involved in the post-production of Party, Simbu has signed the Tamil remake of Mufti, where he will be seen alongside Gautham Karthik. He also recently shot for a cameo role in Hansika's 50^th film, Maha.
