Jai, who was seen in Kalakalappu 2 and Jarugandi last year in Tamil, is all set to make his Malayalam debut with  Mammootty’s Madhura Raja, directed by Vyshakh. The actor has reportedly started shooting for his portions in the film, alongside Mammootty.

Madhura Raja, incidentally, is a spin-off of the Mammootty-Prithviraj starrer, Pokkiri Raja, which released in 2010 to become a huge success. In Madhura Raja, Mammootty reprises his role of Raja, a fearsome kingpin, from the original. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who played Mammootty's brother in the original film, will return for a cameo appearance in Madhura Raja.

Madhura Raja, apparently, will not be carrying forward the story of Pokkiri Raja, and will be a standalone film. With music by Gopi Sundar, it features Anushree, Mahima Nambiyar, and Shamna Kasim as the female leads. Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan and Telugu actor Jagapathy Babu are also part of the cast. Sunny Leone will be starring in an item song

The film, which went on floors in August 2018, is said to be the costliest film in Mammotty’s career so far. It is slated to release on April 14, during the time of Vishu.

Meanwhile, Jai has three films, Party, Neeya 2, and an untitled boxing drama, directed by Gopi Nainar gearing up for release this year.
