I have no aspiration to join politics directly or indirectly: Ajith Kumar

The statements of Dr Tamilisai Soundarrajan, State president of BJP Tamil Nadu, about the inclusion of a number of Ajith Kumar fans into the national party has forced the reclusive Viswasam star to come out with a statement of his own.

In response to Tamilisai's statements that the actor's fans will take forward the welfare schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tamil Nadu, Ajith clarified that he is only an actor, and has no "linkage or association with politics, political party or their leaders". He further said that the decision behind disbanding his fan clubs was to avoid being painted with a particular political colour.

"Despite this clear decision of mine, there are certain news updates linking me and my fans with some political organisations. Such baseless news during the current time period leading up to elections would send wrong signals that I have political aspirations," said Ajith in the statement.

The actor categorically denied any political aspirations and said that while he does have his political likes and dislikes, he will never impose it on his fans. Ajith also took this opportunity to condemn the "derogating and degrading (of) other actors and critics on social media platforms."

In conclusion, Ajith asked his fans to focus on their health, education, and work. He also urged them to obey law and order, and be respectful towards others.
